BETWEEN LINES

ON LOCATION AND RECOMMENDATION

Between Lines: On Location and Recommendation Systems is a 210 page bespoke publication. The book encapsulates my Master of Design thesis research and process. The book contains an overview of each of my four thesis films, as well as analysis of the 11 participant interviews conducted as part of my thesis study.

PUBLICATION DESIGN — EDITORIAL DESIGN — GRAPHIC DESIGN

This publication represents not only a year of process, design work, and research but also my growth and creativity and craft in this final presentation. I incorporated this into my own planning as a final challenge to myself. This was my first time designing and hand-binding a publication.

The publication was designed over the course of 3 weeks. Once I’d written the content, I began chunking the various sections into narratively coherent sub-sections. With my information architecture ready I approached the visual design iteratively. I mood-boarded three distinct themes and prioritized the most thematically relevant. The visual design was completed within 5 days. Binding and final adjustments took an additional week.
